MICHAEL SPROTT, who
challenges Matt Skelton for the
Commonwealth heavyweight title at
the 02 Arena in London tomorrow,
has agreed to visit Coldingley
Prison in Bisley, Woking on July 27.
Sprott's hoping that he will visit
the inmates as a champion. He is
to give a training exhibition and
seminar.
The event has been organised
by Tony Bowers, who is serving
time there but heads the prison's
diversity team.
We hear Sprott's in terrific
shape for tomorrow's match and
that he has barely been out of
training since defeating Audley
Harrison earlier this year.

WORLD middleweight champion
JERMAIN TAYLOR has reportedly
said, win or lose against undefeated
KELLY PAVLIK at Atlantic City's
Boardwalk Hall on September 29,
he will fight at 12st.
That, of course, suggests that
Taylor will aim for WBO champion
Joe Calzaghe, WBC/WBA king
Mikkel Kessler, or - should
Calzaghe and Kessler meet - the
winner of the unification.
Negotiations for Calzaghe-Taylor
several months ago failed to result
in an agreement.

TOMMY AYERS, the 1980s welter
contender, was arrested two weeks
ago in possession of cocaine.
Ayers, 44, who works as a coach
at the Mount Auburn Community
Center in Cincinnati, was charged
with trafficking and possessing the
drug. Each charge carries a fiveyear
jail term.
Police found Ayers in possession
of eight bags of cocaine with a
street value of nearly $4,000.
Ayers has been in trouble with
the law several times over the past
decade for a variety of offences.
He won 38 of 42 bouts and
became No. 1 WBA title challenger
to Mark Breland, only to lose
before ever getting his shot.

ST Paul's ABC of Hull enjoyed their trip
to Australia, which saw them box on
three shows. Head coach Mick Bromby
supplied the details.
"The first tournament was held in
Brisbane, with six bouts against the
Australian national squad.
"The next day seven bouts were held
in a small gym owned by head of
security Les Anyos, whose daughter
Sharon is a women's world champion.
"A week later the final tournament
was held at the Magic Million race track
in Labrador, an open air venue."
Results were as follows.
