CAMDEN southpaw IAN WILSON
is sidelined with an agonising back
injury that comes and goes. It once
forced him to quit for six years.
He injured discs while working in
a warehouse. That's why he stands
between rounds.
His dad Colin Wilson said: "He
did it lifting light gear."
The Wilsons still think Henry
Castle deserves a British title shot,
despite Ian stopping him last time
out. "The guy showed bottle," said
Colin, "and nothing impresses me
more than bottle."

JOSE LUIS CASTILLO has gone back
to his old trainer Romulo Quirarte for
his June 23 showdown with Ricky
Hatton in Las Vegas.
Castillo had been trained in recent
fights by Tiburcio Garcia.
"1 don't have the smallest doubt that
Don Romulo is the ideal person to take
me to a great victory over Hatton,"
Castillo was quoted as saying on
Fightnews.com. "I have much respect
and confidence in him and I want him
to train me in the few fights that I have
left as a professional boxer."

Toney eases back
JAMES TONEY comes back from his
January loss to Samuel Peter with
a much easier task. He goes in
with blown-up cruiser DANNY
BATCHELDER at the HP Pavilion,
San Jose on May 24.
It was recently declared that
Toney had come through a battery
of tests following concerns that he
was slurring his words after Peter.

SCOTTISH amateur boxing suffered
two sad deaths recently.
TOMMY McGUINNESS, who died
at home in Leith aged 73, was one
of the Sparta club's original boxers.
Likeable McGuinness sparred
future stars such as Bobby Neill
and welterweight Eddie Phillips,
and also helped a young Ken
Buchanan when he Joined the
Edinburgh club in 1953.
