THOSE post-fight comments of Ricky
Hatton's following his June knockout
of Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas
appeared to have irked Floyd
Mayweather sufficiently to make the
American come out of'retirement'.
The clpsh between the flashy
American and the undefeated
Mancunian is on. December 8 in Las
Vegas (MGM Grand or Mandalay Bay
Hotels) looks most likely, but has yet to
be confirmed. Golden Boy are reported
to be the promoters in association
with Mayweather.

THE severe cuts received by
MICHAEL KATSIDIS defeating
Filipino Czar Amonsot in Las Vegas
last month have possibly ruled the
Aussie out of a unification clash
with WBA/WBO lightweight champ
JUAN DIAZ.
Katsidis, as WBO interim champ,
has to box Diaz and the two camps
had agreed to do so.
But now, in order to remain
active, Diaz is looking to a
showdown with IBF champion JULIO
DIAZ on October 13.

FORMER three-time world champion
JEFF FENECH was convicted of
drink driving on July 24 and faces
further trouble after failing to turn
up in court.
Magistrate David Heilpern
recorded a conviction against
Fenech and warned that a warrant
would be issued for his arrest if he
failed to appear in court to be
sentenced on August 8.
Fenech, 43, was arrested on
March 30 after blowing 0.095
when breathalysed. The legal limit
in Australia is 0.05.
Fenech, a multi-millionaire with
widespread business interests, is
also facing charges of theft
following an incident on the Gold
Coast in which watches were stolen
from a jewellery store.
