BRITISH and Commonwealth welterweight champion Lloyd Honeyghan faces the biggest test of his unbeaten career tomorrow
(Saturday) when he takes on American Don Curry for the undisputed world title in Atlantic City. Lloyd faces an unenviable

BRITAIN'S tally of European titles how stands at
five, thanks to Chris Pyatt's 97-second destruction of
the feeble Dutchman John van Elteren to take the
championship vacated by Pyatt's original opponent,
Frenchman Said Skouma, whom Chris had been
scheduled to challenge in Rome later in the month

WBA light-middle champion Mike McCallum warmed up for his title defence against Said
Skouma next month with an easy third-round stoppage victory over Irwin Hines of America
in a scheduled 10 round non-title fight.
McCallum, originally from Jamaica but now fighting out of the United States, came in as
a full middle against Hines, who was knocked out in two rounds by Herol Graham in
September 1984.

ALTHOUGH Steffen Tangstad gave it a brave try against Mike Spinks, the fact remains
that this was a total mis-match. This has been a bad year for title matches. We have had
Donald Curry against Eduardo Rodriguez, Julio Cesar Chavez against Faustino Barrios and
Patrizio Oliva against Brian Brunette.
