THE LATEST in the long line of unsuccessful European challengers
for the world heavyweight title at least went down fighting as
Norway's Steffen Tangstad was outclassed and crushed in four
rounds by Michael Spinks for the International Boxing Federation
version of the championship

SADLY, there was a bit of animosity after Howard Davis
had drawn with Meldrick Taylor in the "Gold versus Gold"
fight at Atlantic City.
Davis, who thought he'd outboxed his man, implied that
the judges had shown favouritism because Taylor is
connected with Dan Duva, the show's promoter.
"When you fight someone who's with the promoter, a
draw is like a win," Davis grumbled at the post-fight press
conference.

BIRMINGHAM'S Wally Reynolds pulled off the best win
of his short career by well-outpoining Camberwell favourite
Steve Elwood in a cracking eight-round main event on
Billy Aird's show at Dulwich Baths.
