Boxing News Magazine 2011 Memorabilia
IN the pre-fight hype we heard James DeGale telling everyone he
was a different animal compared to when he and George Groves
were amateurs. Everyone knows that Groves beat "Chunky" in the
unpaid ranks, with the rematch being scripted by Team DeGale as
revenge. James wasn't lying; he certainly was a different animal,
except it was a rather mild animal, lacking snarl for most of the
contest.
IT'S been 13 years since Terry Dunstan
challenged Imamu Mayfield for the IBF
cruiserweight title. 1 1 years have elapsed
since he began an eight-and-a-half year
prison sentence. On the undercard of the
July 2 Wladimir Klitschko-David Haye
showdown, the Vauxhall veteran will take
on highly-ranked Ola Afolabi.
JOHN WATSON, last seen getting
knocked out by Anthony Crolia in
February, is keen to get back inside
the ropes as soon as possible.

"I've got to go up to at least lightwelterweight,"
revealed Watson
[be/ow], "With me getting older I
struggle to make lightweight. I've
made it only three times since I
was 1 7 and they were my last two
fights."
BEING unbeaten never equates to
being unbeatable. But that unfamiliarity
with defeat often instills fearlessness
uncommon with those who have
experienced the misery of losing.
Gavin Rees was the owner of such
dangerous bravery when he came out of
the wilderness to clinch the WBA lightwelterweight
title against Souleymane
MBaye in 2007 inside the walls of the
Cardiff International Arena.
