GEORGE FEENEY secured a unique family double
when he wrenched the British lightweight crown from
the head of brave Ray Cattouse in the 14th round of
what was the best home title fight in years at the Albert
Hall on Tuesday, writes MARTIN CREASY.
George now joins his brother as a champion as John
Feeney already holds the British bantamweight title, the
first time brothers have held British titles at the same
time.

A SPLIT-SECOND of carelessness proved costly for Croydon's Clinton
McKenzie, who 'ost his European light-welterweight title and the
chance of a world title shot on a second-round disqualification against
substitute challenger Robert Gambini, writes HARRY MULLAN
Gambini, who only got the fight because Francisco Leon was indisposed,
was crowned champion as he wept in pain on the floor, clutching
his groin as Board of Control doctor Adrian Whiteson tended him.

CARLOS HERRERA lost no time in gaining revenge for
his knockout defeat by Jose Luis Santana. The lanky Argentinian
had claimed that an injury caused his previous
lapse, but this time it was Santana who needed excuses as
Herrera stopped him in two rounds in Barquisimeto.

LIVERPOOL'S Jimmy Price followed in the footsteps of his idol John
Conteh by taking the Commonwealth Games middleweight gold medal.
Price, with welterweight Chris Pyatt, were England's only gold medal
successors. But the unemployed Liverpudlian was undoubtedly the most
impressive English performer. Seven English boxers reached the last stage
with five taking silver.
