HANLON LEADS ENGLAND GLORY BRIGADE

AT THE second attempt, and a year after winning it, Clinton McKenzie
finally gets the first defence of his European fight-welterweight tide
underway at the Albert Hall on Tuesday in what could be a tough fight
against capable Spaniard Francisco Leon.
The fight was orginally planned for last summer in Spain, but the
promotion fell through. McKenzie then turned down the same substantial
purse to fight Leon last August 4 in Italy because a defence against
Patrizio Oliva, currendy rated number two in Europe, was part of the
deal. Ironically, McKenzie's next defence if he beats Leon will probably
have to be against Oliva, the former Olympic gold medallist and now the
unbeaten Italian champion.AT THE second attempt, and a year after winning it, Clinton McKenzie

A FASCINATING if very much unpublicised British lightweight title
fight takes place at the Albert Hall on Tuesday between champion Ray
Cattouse of Balham and George Feeney of Hartlepool.
Cattouse tops the bill for the first time on a major London promotion
(he shares top billing with Clinton McKenzie), and if he is successful
against Feeney he will join the elite who have won a Lonsdale Belt
outright.

FINLAND beat London ABA by six bouts to four in Helsinki,
but according to the visitors, the score should have
been the other way round.
It was a particularly bad night for St Pancras ABC, who
provided three boxers, all of whom lost.
ABA featherweight champion Herman Henry gave a
sparkling performance, but to the disappointment of the
London lads, two judges voted for Veli Koota.
