THE LATE Jack Kid Berg, former World junior welter
champion, and former President of the London
Ex-Boxers' Association, has been selected for election
to the International Jewish Sports Hall Of Fame
for 1993. This is a prestigious organisation with its
headquarters in Israel, and the good news came to
me in a roundabout way.

NAVY COACH Tony Bevel paid tribute to outgoing
Army supremo MICK GANNON after the soldiers
defeated the Navy 7-3 to take the Inter-Services
title at Nelson Gym for the 10th successive year
under Gannon's guidance.
Tony presented Mick with a silver salver immediately
after the last bout and said: "To coach his team to 10
championships is a tremendous achievement by a great
bloke. He will be a tremendous loss, not just by the Army
but to service boxing in general."
Club.
His comeback had been billed locally as the 'return
of the prodigal son' and he duly obliged by extending
his unbeaten record to nine out of nine with a polished
win in front of a modest but enthusiastic
crowd.
