LITTLE did John Stracey know it at the time but he set something of a trend
when he returned from representing Britain in the 1968 Olympic Games in
Mexico. He returned home with a doll for Repton coach Tony Burns' wife, Babs,
and ever since then every member of the club who has travelled abroad has
brought back a doll for Tony's wife. "They daren't refuse," joked Tony this
week, "they wouldn't get fed by Babs when they wanted something to eat after
weighing in at the divisional championships." The threat of no food certainly
appears to have worked — so far Babs has 68 dolls in her collection.
