21-year-old British and
Empire flyweight champion
Walter McGowan, of Hamilton,
who last week was voted Best
Young Boxer of the Year by the
Boxing Writers" Club.

UP-AND-COMING Glasgow middleweight Willie Hart scored the best
 win of his career when he outpointed the Nigerian champion Orlando
Paso over eight hard fought rounds. Hart was slow to start, but got on
top at the half-way stage and from there he coasted to victory.

DESPITE the withdrawal of two leading Scottish champions,
light-welterweight Dick McTaggart (Kelvin) and welten\'eight
Jimmy Malcolm (Sparta), Scotland still managed to beat Ireland
by six bouts to four in their televised Kuttner Shield international
tournament at Glasgow's Kelvin Sports Arena last Thursday week.
