MANNY PACOUIAO pUns to set
up a boxing institute in China and
believes the country can produce
professional champions. Speaking
from Shanghai, where he was
promoting his November 22 fight
with Chris Algieri, Pacquiao said
that he has partnered with the
Chinese government to set up an
institute in his name. The fighter
said the local boxers "just need
some knowledge about boxing and
should be taught the basics."

TAYLOR CAN FIGHT ON
THE IBF will not stop Jermain
Taylor from challenging their
middleweight champion Sam
Soliman, despite the American's
arrest for allegedly shooting his
own cousin. The 36-year-old was

free to take on Soliman on October

DUNGIVEN'S Paul McCloskey
has announced his retirement at
the age of 35. The former British
and European light-welterweight
champion, and WBA challenger,

in the game and will take a break
from the sport. McCloskey lost his

in December, to leave his record at

FROCH'S FUTURE
CARL FROCH could fight
lames DeGale next year. Promoter
Matchroom are not inclined to wait
for a possible clash with Julio Cesar
Chavez Jnr. "James DeGale is the
mandatory, Froch has got to fight
him before the end of February or
vacate the belt," said Eddie Hearn.
"I can't see him vacating the belt."
