"Right now I need to take my
time because it is a hard decision,"
Marquez revealed about his future.
"Maybe I'll retire, maybe I'll
continue, I don't know."
JAKE BALL reached the final of
the Ahmet Comert Cup in Istanbul,
Turkey on September 11.
The Guildford City lightheavyweight
had to box three
local opponents to get there,
initially beating Turkey's Hasan
Talan unanimously then
overcoming Mehmet Nadir Unal
on a split decision before he
lost a unanimous call to Samir
Magomedov in the 81 kgs final.
"I boxed three tough Turkish
opponents over three days and
I felt I performed well in the
final, but my opponent took
the decision. It's been a great
experience to learn from," Jake said.
Out there for GB as well was
Dan Woledge. The St Mary's
middleweight also reached the
podium, taking a bronze medal
after Russia's Magamed Kurbanov
beat him by split decision in the
semi-final. Woledge beat Turkey's
Kemal Saitaev and Azerbaijan's
Eldar Guliyev, both by split
decision, in his initial contests. Chris
Mbwalcongo, from the Lynn, has
moved up to 69kgs but lost a spilt
decision to Turkey's Yaicup Sener in
his first bout in Istanbul.
