HERBIE HIDE, two-time WBO
heavyweight champion, has been
sentenced to 22 months in prison
for admitting conspiracy to supply
Class A drugs. The former boxer,
42, was exposed in an unsavoury
tabloid sting earlier this year while
declaring he would be able to fix
fights.

THE LIN6-UP for the 2014 International
Boxing Hall of Fame, on June 5-8, is one of
the most glamorous yet,
The three modern stars heading to
Canastota are six-weight champion Oscar
De La Hoya, his rival Felix Trinidad, a
three-division champ, and Wales' former
WBO, IBF and WBA Super world supermiddleweight
king Joe Calzaglie.

NATHAN CLEVERLY, former WBO
light-heavyweight champion, was
impressed with both his conqueror
Sergey Kovalev and Adonis
Stevenson at the weekend. But
the Welshman - who has been out
of action since losing to Kovalev in
August - believes that Stevenson is
running scared from the Russian.
"You can see in his body
language he doesn't really fancy
Kovalev because that guy is a
lethal punching machine," Cleverly
said about the Canadian who
called out Carl Froch and Bernard
Hoplcins after beating Tony
Beiiew. "Stevenson knows he'll
be in trouble with Kovalev. If they
fight, if HBO put the money up and
stage the fight, I can see Kovalev
KO'ing Stevenson."

PERRY HOLLAND won the award
for best home boxer for his clash
with Folkestone's Josh Kennedy,
who was decorated as the best
visiting boxer. Kennedy won a
majority decision. "In this special
three-threes we were treated to a
very close and fantastic spectacle
of boxing," said Dagenham's Dan
O'Sullivan.
"Holland pressed the whole
fight - sometimes too willingly,
whilst Kennedy worked well off
the ropes and the pair exchanged
some meaty combinations - both
switching from body to head.
"An absolute cracking bout, and
despite the loss Holland proved he
is able to mix it vflth the country's
best in his preparations for the 2014
Senior Elite ABAs. I'd personally like
to thank Harry Slater (Folkestone)
and Josh and the team for coming
along."
