LEWIS PINTO took his own life
at the age of just 24 on Sunday
Oune 3). The Wallington man
made his debut in April, beating
Danny Dontchev over four rounds
and realising his ambition to be a
professional boxer.
"It's a shame his career was so
short," said his close friend and
unbeaten lightweight prospect
Ricky Boylan. "He was strong, he
had loads of potential. We're all in
shock - nothing can prepare you for
something like this."
Pinto built up a following on the
Queensbury league circuit prior to
making his debut.
"He loved Mike Tyson," Boylan
remembered. "He would watch the
way he fought all the time. He used
to say that he didn't have a trainer,
he learned from watching Tyson
fight."
I'M praying for him," Manny Pacquiao
said of Floyd Mayweather after the
American surrendered his freedom and
began a 87-day Las Vegas jail sentence

City ahead of his showdown with Timothy
Bradley and offered
support to his long-term
rival.
"I'm not treating him
as my opponent, my
enemy or anything," said
Pacquiao. "I'm treating
him as my friend, my
brother. I'm praying that
all things will be fine for him."
Speculation has again been building
in Las Vegas that the pair could meet
in the ring before the end of the year
but several obstacles remain. Not least
Mayweather's jail term, which stems from
an attack on the mother of his children in
September 2010. His incarceration was.
due to begin on January 6 but he was
allowed to remain free in order to fight,
and outpoint, Miguel Cotto on May 5 at
the MGM Grand.
