THERE was only one South West London
division final in the ABAs this year, held at the
Earlsfield gym. Welterweight James Levy,
Elmbridge, came out jabbing against Rakeem
Noble. Heavy swings from Noble connected
and while Levy replied with a right hook of
his own, the Rosehill boxer pressed him hard.
Rakeem's left hook knocked James back and
his right swept in as the two exchanged. Levy
landed his shots but already he bled from
the nose. Noble hooked his right into James'
side. The blow sickened and dropped Levy,
and though James forced himself upright the
referee ended it in the first.
Two South East London finals were held
over for this show. Lynn light-middleweight
Joshua Ejakpovi picked up another stoppage
victory in a duel with Nemesis' Dennis Oshijo,
The two southpaws wheeled round one
another, selecting scoring blows but Joshua
added power to his straight left, resulting in
two standing counts for Oshijo before the
referee waved it off in the second round.
At 8 1 kgs, Duane Sinclair, South Norwood
& Victory, got off to a good start against Tom
Finnegan, picking out scoring blows from
range. But the bustling Bexley boxer came into
it more, working in combination, throwing out
one-twos and landing his lead hook. A closely
contested bout but Finnegan took a majority.
There were walkovers for Luqman Patel,
Earlsfield, at 48 kgs, D. Parsons, Battersea,
at 57 kgs, Louis Adolphe, Earlsfield, at 63.5
kgs, A. Carter, Earlsfield, at 7 1 kgs, Robert
Garvey, Earlsfield, at 75 kgs. Kirk Garvey,
Earlsfield, at 8 1 kgs, T. Williams, Balham, at
86 kgs, C. Leka, Balham, at 9 1 kgs and Joe
Joyce, Earlsfield, at 91& kgs.
