RYAN RHODES has been forced to
pull out of his March 24 European
l i s t title fight against Sergey
Rabchenko due to a back injury.
Undefeated Belaruslan
Rabchenko will now box a nontitle
eight-rounder on the bill at
Sheffield's Ponds Forge Arena.
"I just hope that when Hatton
Promotions make the fight at a
later date Rhodes doesn't run
away," said Rabchenko.
"If Rhodes pulls out for a second
time then It will be because he
knows that I will beat him. This
time I forgive him, just about."
Hatton's Richard Poxon hopes
the bout can be rescheduled for
May or june.

as Wtadimir Klitschko beat up Jean-Marc
Mormeck at the weekend. He found little
to admire in the Frenchman's efforts
but felt great pride when a victorious
Klitschko named Price as a potential
future challenger.
"I was made up," the 2008 Olympic
Bronze medallist recalled.
"Even when I was over
there a lot of people
knew who I was. The fact
that the heavyweight
champion knows my
name is a massive
compliment to me. I've
never made a secret of
the fact that I'm a big Klitschko fan. But
as time goes on I've got to get away from
this mentality of being a fan of them, and
Instead be a challenge and a threat."
The wise Merseysider, who takes
on Sam Sexton for the vacant British
heavyweight title at Aintree on May 19,
is carefully plotting the right time to
become that threat.

AUDLEY HARRISON'S comeback
bout against AM Adams at the
Brentwood Centre, Essex has been
postponed from April 14 to May
26 after the former European
heavyweight champion Injured his
elbow In sparring.
"I'm so frustrated to pick up
this injury just when I started to
step up my training with sparring,"
Audley said. "Even though I'm
40 years young, and ring rust Is
not easy to shake off, I felt good
in sparring. I'm calling back my
sparring partner as soon as I come
back to resume hostilities, as I was
enjoying the tough work."
Garcia retorted, "All Audley is
doing Is putting off the inevitable.
He now gets six weeks longer to
call himself a professional boxer
before I retire him once and for all."

MANSFIELD Civic Centre played
host to the national finals of
the ABA Schools Championships
and it was a case of standing
room only on both days,
Not for the first time Repton
were the big winners with
four from six finalists, most
impressive being Tommy Ball,
who narrowly triumphed over
Burmantofts puncher Adam
Aziz at the end of an exciting
toe to toe 60 kgs battle, both
lads meriting the prolonged
applause at the final bell.
Tyrane Wynter (48
kgs) looked impressive in
outpointing Darlington's David
Adams while Levi Coats and
Hall Green's Zacliarey Davis
boxed a cracker at 32 kgs that
sent the noise levels in the hall
through the roof. A seri.ei.of .
left hooks to the head earning
Davis a narrow victory.
Biggest winner of the
weekend was busy Kings Heath
southpaw Benjamin Vaughan
(42 kgs), who handed Ferry
Street's Joe Manning a 43 17
defeat and there were quick-fire
victories for Repton's Michael
Oats (30 kgs), Birtley's Isaac
Miiburn (44 kgs) and Daniel
Dubois (63 kgs) of Dale Youth.
Victorious on day one was
Birtley's Marie Dicicinson who
claimed the 40 kgs, Class 1 title
hours before uncles Travis and
Jon-Lewis picked up impressive
early wins in Aberdeen.
It was hard not to feel sorry
for Ashley Davenport (57 kgs)
of Ted Harris Academy, who,
all gloved up and in his corner
ready to go, was prevented
from boxing due to his specially
made gumshield being reddish
in colour (not allowed in the
rules as this makes it difficult
for officials to see any blood
around the mouth area).
There was no shortage of pro
representation on hand at the
Nottinghamshire venue, Tony -
Bellew and Amir Khan dropped
by on the Saturday afternoon
while Frarikie Gavin, Shane
McPhilbin andjazza Dickens
were on hand to cheer on their
favourites the following day.
