HE was nicknamed "Chin Kong"
after withstanding 400 punches
from world heavyweight king
Wladlmir Klitschko in November,
but now New Jersey-based Pole
Marlusz Wach has tested positive
for anabolic steroids.
"We were notified on Monday
that a sample is positive," Thomas
Puetz, president of German
professional boxing, told German
newspaper Bild
The Cologne Institute of Bio-
Chemistry analysed samples
provided by both champion and
challenger and now 32-year-old
Wach faces a one-year ban.

A CATFIGHT broke out at the
funeral of Hector Camacho
between a 28-year-old woman
claiming to be Camacho's girlfriend,
and the fighter's sister. Cynthia
Castillo appeared at the funeral
in a bright pink T-shirt and kissed
Camacho in his coffin, much to the
annoyance of the family.
"I am Macho's current girlfriend,"
said Castillo after being encouraged
to leave. "They attacked me, but
should be grateful because I was
there with him."
The rest of the funeral passed
without'incldent, as the charismatic
fighter was laid to rest in his native
Puerto Rico.

RYAN CLARK visited the Boxing
News offices in the summer of
2011, without a win in two years
and almost 40 contests, declaring
he was going to turn his career
around and become a champion.
At the time, despite his obvious
determination, it seemed a
ridiculous notion.
Fifteen months later, the
23-year-old has secured a shot at
the vacant Midlands Area supermiddleweight
title against Martin
Conception on February 23 after
three consecutive inside-thedistance
wins.
"I don't regret any of the losses
because without them I wouldn't
be the fighter that I am today,"
Clark, 5-53-4 (3), says. "People say
'Why didn't you start like this?' Well,
I'm glad I didn't because I would
have been s***. I needed to learn."
Clark, who began a 12-week
camp with proud trainer Carl
Greaves this week, insists he will
not take another fight at short
notice, nor accept a four-round
assignment as the 'opponent'.
"I spent some time with James
Tucker in his dressing room
recently and it's a cold and lonely
place," Clark says. The bout with
Concepcion will take place in
Lincoln at a venue to be confirmed.

WITH Britain's newly crowned superflyweight
champion Paul Butler in
attendance, Wirral Community Police
ABC stage a 10-bout show at ttie
Vauxhall Sports & Social club on
November 16.
Flyweight Alex Foulkes ground
out a hard-earned points win over
St joseph's accomplished Levi
Lawrence, his greater experience
on the inside giving him the last
word in their exchanges.
Carl McCleod showed greater
maturity and some sickening body
shots to prevail over the forward
march of Liam Edwards, Pontypool,
over four-twos. Aaron Brabinder
made full use of his considerable
height against brave Anthony Ray,
Winsford, forcing a retirement in the
last round.
Wirral super-heavyweight Chris
Howell engaged Pontypool's Lewis
Preece, both landing big shots.
Delivering a standing count in the
last round, Howell won on points.
Schoolboys Jack Tidd and Declan
Powell lost respective decisions
to Isaac Flemmington, Salisbury,
and Oeclan Powell, Bridgefoot.
Pontypool's Dean Jones also beat
their junior Jack McEvoy. Llay's Carl
Mather also beat Marlon Walters.
Wirral'sjack Kelly battled
for a points win against Aaron
McCallum, Bootle, his speed of
hand and foot offsetting McCallum's
height and reach advantages,
Weathering a strong final round from
the Bootle lad, Kelly received the
Best Boxer trophy, though McCallum
had pushed him all the way.
Reece Goodhall and Bridgefoot's
Joe love also took part in a skills
bout.
