JOHN MURRAY has been forced to pull
out of his December 8 Alexandra Palace
showdown with Gavin Rees after failing
a British Boxing Board of Control medical.
"I'm devastated," said Murray. "Things
had been going well, I'd been looking good
and feeling sharp. I've been training hard
for 12 weeks and put
so much into it. Fighters
don't get paid unless they
fight, so I've just done 12
weeks' graft and there's
going to be no payday
before Christmas. I've
got to get a job over the
festive period to tide me
over."

MICHAEL BRODIE has been found
not guilty of conspiracy to supply
cocaine. The 38-year-old former
European super-bantam champion
drove his friend from Manchester to
Blackpool In his taxi last October,
unaware he was carrying £138,000
worth of cocaine. The car was
stopped by police and Brodie found
himself in prison for two months
before his bail was met.
Brodie hopes to get back into
boxing as a coach.

DANNY GREEN has revealed he
almost pulled out of his November
2 1 MelBourne cruiserweight
fight with Shane Cameron after
breaking two ribs in sparring. He
also called the 12-round.polnts
victory, which left him feeling like
he'd been "hit by a bus", as one of
the most satisfying of his career.

Police ABC's club tournament on
November 18.

Class B, 54 kgs championship
between Amy O'Kane (Paddy

Alfred). O'Kane won with Crisp

THE Army boxing team had
three boxing against Scotland on
November 16.
John Pontone took a majority
over Brian Forsyth, the Scottish
81 kgs king, and Shamim
Khan beat Scotland's P. Singh
unanimously. Matt Wells retired
in the third round against J.
Thompson.
On November 17 two Army
boxers won in Cosport on the
Victory ABC show (see page 42).
Tom Barry (B 71) and Andy
HaKel (A 81), represent the
Combined Services in the
National Novice semj-finals on
December 2 after winning their
quarter-finals on November 18.
