PROMOTER Lou DiBella reckons
his Argentine southpaw SERGIO
MARTINEZ will pick up from
where Carlos Monzon left off
when he meets middleweight
champion KELLY PAVUK at
Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall on
April 17.

ANDRE WARD'S defence of the
WBA super-middleweight title
against Super Six new entrant
Allan Green has been postponed
from April 24 to an unknown
date, after the champion injured
his right knee, on which he has
had surgery in the past, in
training.

IT seemed once that John Duddy was
just one fight away from a shot at world
Vniddleweight champion Kelly Pavlik.
But he was shown up by Walid Smichet
in a gruelling clash in 2008 and then
exposed by Billy Lyell, Pavlik's sparring
partner, in a big upset last year.

IT wasn't pretty but it certainly was
effective as WBO cruiser king Marco
"Captain" Huck retained his title at an
almost-packed Max Schmeling Hall in
on top of this Sauerland Event
Promotion. The opponent was Adam
Richards, the "Swamp Donkey", who
gave it his best shot but came in as a
decided underdog and proved far from
world class.

SAM PETER is slowly re-emerging as a
force in the heavyweight division since
signing with Top Rank. The 29-year-old
former WBC heavyweight king's career
re-birth continued with a two-round
thrashing of Nagy Aguilera at the
Gaylord Texan Hotel.

ENGLAND stage a mini-invasion of
France tomorrow (Saturday March 20),
when Jamie McDonnell travels to Le
Cannet to tilt for European honours.
Waiting for him is Montpelier-based
Jerome Arnould, the prize the vacant
EBU bantamweight.title.

HODDESDON Boxing Academy, in
conjunction with Hoddesdon Rotary
Club, served up an excellent programme
of 10 competitive bouts at
Broxbourne Civic Hall (March 3).
The hosts' two most senior boxers,
Ben Fowl and Billy Clayden, both
won in competitive clashes.
