MANCHESTER super-bantamweight
KALLUM DE'ATH, aged 19 and 2-0
as a pro, has apparently returned
to the amateurs.
The Newton Heath boxer, trained
as a pro by Anthony Farnell, was
a champion at both schoolboy
and junior levels as an amateur,
representing England and reaching
an ABA semi-final.

THE March 28 Hayemaker bill at
Liverpool's Echo Arena, headlined by
Ryan Rhodes against Anthony
Small, has been boosted by the
addition of two super-middle title
fights both involving home-towners
as challengers.
New British champion Brian
Magee defends against former holder
of the belt Tony Dodson.
Paul David will defend his newlywon
English title against Tony
Quigley, with the winner to defend
against another Liverpudlian, Paul
Smith, who has moved up a weight.

THE tug of war over Colombian
lightweight banger Breidis Prescott
continues. Arena Box, led by the
Ahmet Ohner, says Prescott will face
Ivan "Choco" Hernandez in Florida
on February 20. Frank Warren, who
insists he has Amir Khan's conqueror
under contract, says that he will take
out an injunction to stop that fight.
Light-middle banger Richard
Gutierrez and Cuban prospect
Erislandy Lara are set to fight on the
Florida bill.
Prescott is also booked to fight on
ShoBox on April 3 on the same bill as
Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa. No venue
or opponents have been confirmed.

WALES sent one boxer to the
Youth and Junior Girls European
Championships in Bulgaria last
month: ASHLEY BRACE (57 kgs).
The 17-year-old's first bout was
against hotly tipped KINGA NYITRAI
from Hungary but Ashley won quite
easily at 16-2.
Then she met Russia's ZINAIDA
MASHKOVA, who'd had 35 contests
and only one loss against Ashley's
10 bouts.
Round one saw Ashley winning 4-
0, and after the second the score
was 6-4 to Ashley. But in the last
the Russian's experience showed as
she ran out a 12-8 winner.
Still, Ashley took a bronze medal
and the Bulgarians raved so much
about her thai they even gave her a
one-page write-up on their website!
