HACKNEY middleweight WAYNE
ALWAN-ARAB, who last night
(March 5) fought WAYNE DOWNING
in London (report next week), is
donating 10 per cent of his purse
to Aids charities in Africa.
Alwan-Arab is originally from
Zimbabwe and settled in London a

He also runs Righteous Fighters,
which teaches whitecollar boxing in
London and has joined forces with
Kids Company, who help troubled
youngsters.
Alwan-Arab was 16st when he
arrived in England and says a
friend's boasting about their keepfit
regime led him to the gym. After
a spell in Thai boxing, he took up
amateur boxing and then went to
America and trained with Floyd
Mayweather Snr.
Alwan-Arab blames the split with
his most recent trainer, Babatunde
Ajayi, on the demands of running
his business. He trained himself for
the clash with Downing.
