SAY what you will about Billy Walker but you
cannot knock his fighting heart. Limited when
assessed at world level, Billy traded on aggression
bravery and a willingness to accept punishment.

TEDDY MEHO, the British-based Ghanaian
welter, is due to fight in his home country
tomorrow (Saturday). Opponent is Ivory
Coast welter champ Sea Robinson.
Robinson, fresh from a win over Obolettey
Commey, the Ghanaian champ, could pose
problems for fightwise Meho.
Meho, who claims he's being ignored by
top British welters, has been taking on
middles and has been having more than a
little success.
A draw with Hary Scott, a points win over
Dick Duffy and a close points defeat to
Tommy Gray show that Meho is by no means
a spent force.

IN MADRID, Rumania had nine quarter-finalists in the
European Championships, unprecedented in the history
or the event. As it happened, due in the main to a whole
spate of abysmal verdicts, which invariably went against
them, they failed to win even one European crown and
had to be satisfied with four silver and five bronze medals.
But in achieving this, the Rumanians have already
proved beyond doubt their present unparalelled depth of
quality.
