EUROPEAN light-middleweight
champion ZAURBEK BAYSANGUROV
has pulled out, for the second
time, of his defence against Salford
southpaw JAMIE MOORE, in Wigan
on September 26.
Moore's promoter Frank
Maloney has protested to the
EBU, as Baysangurov also pulled
out, with a damaged nose, last
December, when the match was
originally scheduled.
If the unbeaten Ukrainian is
stripped, Moore will face a new
opponent for the vacant European
crown in November.
The Robin Park Arena show has
been cancelled, meaning the Sky TV
date will definitely now be filled by
Sport's Networks York Hall show on
the same night, which could
potentially feature Amir Khan's
conqueror, BREIDiS PRESCOH, in
the main event.

PUERTO RICAN trainer Oscar Suarez
died last week, aged just 47. He had
been suffering with pancreatic cancer
and passed away at his home in New
Jersey.
He trained a long list of contenders
and champions and was best-known in
this country for his time with Naseem
Hamed, whom he worked with while
Emanuel Steward stayed on to work in
an advisory role, before Suarez
eventually ended up training Hamed
on his own.
Before his first fight with Naz,
against Paul Ingle in April 1999, we
said Suarez was a "mystery man."
But in the years that followed he
worked with Acelino Freitas, Omar
Sheika, Jhonny Gonzalez, and Jose
Reyes among others.
"Boxing has lost a great trainer, and I
have lost a great friend," Freitas told a
Brazilian newspaper. "We were
together for seven years and we won
three titles together."

THE state of Mississippi and tiie
WBC were last week locked in a
bitter battle over who would judge
tlie ligtit-welterweight title figiit
between Timotliy Bradley and Edner
Cherry.
The WBC was disappointed that
the Mississippi State Athletic
Commission (MSAC) decided to
choose the judges and referee
rather than use those officials
appointed by the sanctioning body.
The WBC was considering
sending three of its own judges to
sit ringside and judge the fight.
On the eve of the fight Patrick
turner, Assistant Director of The
MSAC said: "As far as we are
concerned the law is on our side.
We did this to give the fighters a
fair platform."
Turner played down the claim that
the judges aren't experienced. Two of
the judges have WBC experience and
one has judged MMA.
Eventually, both sides backed
down. The Commission used two of
the WBC-recommended officials,
while the WBC did not place their
own officials in the stands after all.
The WBC drew a line under the
matter this week, putting out a
press release praising the two
sides' working relationship.
