THERE is talk of WBO superbantamweight
boss DANIEL PONCE
DE LEON facing his bantamweight
counterpart JHONNY GONZALEZ
on Golden Boy's Barrera-Juarez
rematch show in Las Vegas on
September 16.
Golden Boy had been working
on matching Gonzalez with WBC
champ ISRAEL VAZQUEZ, but the
latter passed.
Besides, Gonzalez likes fighting
rival WBO champs. In his most
recent fight he whipped WBO
super-fly ruler Fernando Montiel.

HENRY CASTLE, after insisting in
last week's BN that he was desperate
for work and would fight anyone, has
pulled out of his clash with Ryan
Barrett on July 23 in Dagenham.
Matchmaker Roy Hilder says he is
confused.
Baz Carey replaces Castle, who
apparently will now fight anyone
but southpaws.
Eric Teymour is off the same WSO
bill after suffering a cut which needed
eight stitches sparring a novice last
week.
