BILLY CORCORAN was upset when
stopped against Carl lohanneson in
a cracking British super-feather
title fight last week (see pl4-15).
"I thought it was premature,"
said his promoter Mick Hennessy.
"It was a great fight, but Billy
would walk through walls. He's
been hurt before and come back,
and that wasn't noted by the ref."
Hennessy said Corcoran would
fight as a feather from now on.

CARL FROCH has had the plaster
removed from the right hand he
damaged retaining his British and
Commonwealth super-middleweight
titles against Brian Magee in May.
The unbeaten Nottingham puncher,
last weekend named Midland fighter
of the Year for the third year running,
also had two pins taken out. But his
promoter Mick Hennessy is already
looking ahead to Carl's next fight.
Hennessy is negotiating for Froch
to challenge European champion
Mger Mkrtchian in the autumn.
Mkrtchian, who won the title
in April by knocking out unbeaten
Frenchman Jackson Chanet in 11, is
supposed to be defending against
David Gogiya in Moscow on
September 28.

GOOD match on Cedric Kushner's
Manhattan card this week (July 261
sees unbeaten Kronk puncher
JOHNATHON BANKS going in with
tricky Cuban ELISEO CASTILLO
for the NABO cruiser beH.
Castillo has slimmed down from
heavyweight after beating Michael
Moorer up there but losing to
Wladimir Klitschko in Germany.
