RMER WBA super-middleweight
champ CHRISTOPHE TIOZZO saw
most of his ring earnings go up in
smoke because of bad investments.
He sued the attorney who handled
his finances and won in the French
Supreme Court. However, he never
got any money.
Now the ex-champion, who also
won bronze in the 1984 Olympics,
is to give his medals and belts to
the French Government to draw
attention to his case.
He was also a European champ.
Son of Man Utd
star turns pro
AARON THOMAS, son of former
Stoke City, Manchester United
and Wrexliam footballer Mickey
Thomas, makes his pro debut
at the King's Hall in Stoke on
September 30.
Scott Lawton's Impact Boxing
promote, with Thomas guesting
for them.
Aaron, who boxed in this year's
Commonwealth Games for Wales,
has signed for Chris Sanigar.
THE Irish ABA hosted English, Italian
and German cadets (under 17) from
July 14-16 in a round-robin event.
England coach Nick Griffin supplies
the English perspective.
"A strong England team beat Ireland
7-4 on the Friday night.
"At 42 legs Aaron Seldon of Exeter
boxed well but was edged out 12-9
by the higher workrate of Declan
Geraghty.
"At 46 kgs Danny Lawlor from
Birmingham City lost 9-5 in a bout
that could have gone either way. Danny
should have worked harder.
"Norwich Lads' Danny Perry boxed
and moved his way to a narrow 10-8
win over David Hutton at 48 kgs.
"At 50 kgs Billy Morgan of West
Ham was on the wrong end of a 20-9
decision against Ruairi Dalton.
"After what I thought was an even
first, Billy was 8-0 down and, despite
battUng hard, he could not overcome
the deficit.
"Exeter's Lewis Browning at 52 kgs
impressed in beating John McDonagh
15-10. Relaxed yet aggressive, Lewis
used fine body punching and the
margin would have been wider
had he kept his guard higher.
"At 57 kgs, Danny Phillips (South
Bank, Middlesbrough) won 12-8 over
Jamie Kavanagh.
