THE bad news for Ricky Hatton is that a superfight
against Floyd Mayweather isn't likely to
happen until the end of the year - if at all.
The good news is that should Hatton-
Mayweather go ahead, the financial gains
will be considerably higher.
However, the reason for the delay is that
if Mayweather beats Zab Judah in Las Vegas
on April 8 for the IBF welterweight title and
doesn't get injured. Pretty Boy Floyd will take
on WBO welterweight champion Antonio
Margarito at the Thomas and Mack Arena,

^ ^ ^ B looks to make
it 18 first-round
when he
meets WHYBER
GARCIA of
Panama in Venezuela tomorrow
(Saturday February 25).
Can he do it? Garcia is a very
respectable 17-3 (12) and has
been the full 12 rounds. He has
been stopped, but in the ninth,
so looks tough and strong.
In fact, he looks useful. He holds
a fifth-round win over Livinson Ruiz,
who gave Stephen Foster a long
night in Manchester. Garcia has
also stopped American stayer
Bernard Harris.
At 24, the Panamanian probably
also has ambition. One thing is

thoroughly in the dressing room.
RICKY BURNS skipped the traditional
head-to-head press conference on the
eve of his fight with Alex Arthur
apparently in protest at quotes that
had been attributed to him in a Sports
Network press release.
In the release. Burns, a former
motor mechanic, was quoted as
comparing Arthur to "an old banger
who's so flash he thinks he's a Ferrari".
"I never said one word of that
press release," Burns told Scottish
reporter Stephen Halliday pre-fight.
"I wouldn't disrespect another boxer
that way."
It's only a bit of fun, Ricky.
