Barnes v Pryce
THE combination of David Barnes' hard punching
and Bradley Pryce's courage and quick hands should
make for a spirited clash when they meet on March 4.
Barnes, who defends his British welterweight title,
starts a strong favourite for me. He is the man in form
and, unlike Pryce, undefeated and on the way up. The
12-rounder goes on in Widnes.

WAYNE McCULLOUGH
was once warned
another blow to the
head could kill him. But
five years after being
banned in Britain, only to be later
cleared, he took hundreds of shots as
he grimly tried to win the WBC superbantamweight
championship from
OSCAR LARIOS.

THERE was one Suffolk 2005 ABA Championships bout in...
December 2004!
It was on the Eastgate ABC show in Bury St Edmunds on December 11 (reported in
previous editions) and saw PAUL DAVIS of Lowestoft beat LEE URMOUR (New Astley)
in two rounds.
Davis lost out to Joe Carrara in the 2004 Eastern Counties final at light-heavy but in
October had outpointed Kevin Earley, then a rated heavy, on his own Cheshunt club show.
Paul scaled 84 kgs for that win, which earned him a rating at heavyweight in our
English lists (January 7). At the time the Larmour result was not known to us.
Lamour is a story in his own right, according to New Astley head coach Mark O'Reilly
"He's an American and is in the US military. Davis was his first bout here, but he'd
had 27 in America and hadn't boxed for 10 years.
"We haven't seen Lee since he lost to Davis, but he said he'd be back.

ESSEX staged their Senior ABAs at the Town Hall
and It resulted in NO bouts for the first time in the
Division's history.
The projected middleweight contest between Ryan
Mahoney (Canvey) and Greg Barton (Southend) fell
through when Mahoney - NACYP Class C runner-up to
Callum Johnson in December 2003 - was withdrawn
through illness.
