Kelvin an ex-champ
KELVIN DAVIS, the chunky American cruiserweight,
is IBF champion no more. The IBF have stripped him
for failing to agree to defend against top contender
and former conqueror O'Nell Bell.
Davis has appealed. The IBF appeals panel will
review the decision within the next two weeks.
If the IBF uphold their action. Bell will box Canada's
Dale Brown for the vacant crown.

Vlkki LaMotta dies
• VIKKI LaMOTTA, made famous by her marriage to
former world middleweight king Jake LaMotta, died in
Boca Raton, Florida several weeks ago. She was 75.
The blonde stunner was played by Cathy Moriarty in
Raging Bull, the legendary movie of LaMotta's life. The
film highlighted their stormy marriage.

TONY S A L E M looked a
cert to retain his ABA
light-heavyweight title
this year... but his run
is sensationally over.
After pounding on an heroically game
Ashley Farrell for four rounds at
Goresbrook Leisure Centre, Salem was
disqualified for having too much bandage
on his hands.

Torbay middle Luke Whane had to lift
himself off the deck before halting the Army's
Jason Summers inside a round.
The Apollo man, whose scalps include 2003
ABA champion Dan Guthrie, was bowled over
by a six-punch cluster within seconds. But
Whane was quick to compose himself and
evaded Summers' follow-ups.
