Bowe and Holyfield:
double standards
IN the 1990s Riddick Bowe and Evander Holyfield
formed one of the greatest heavyweight rivalries in
the sport's history.
Today, each is trying to reclaim a taste of former
glory. But while Holyfield, at 42, remains in impressive
physical condition and Bowe is fighting off the flab on
the comeback trail, Evander stays under suspension
in New York whereas Riddick, 37, has been granted a
licence to box in California.

ST Pancras Club's three KERRIGAN
brothers all featured in hard-fought
bouts on their well-supported open
show at the Irish Centre, Camden Town
on February 28.

Watt tragedy
SCOTLAND team manager Jim Watt -
a cousin of the former world lightweight
champion of the same name - was found
dead in his Liverpool hotei while here for
the Four Nations.
The 60-year-old's body was discovered
by Scots team coach Dr John McKay on the
morning of day one. Tommy Gilmour said of
him: "He was a good guy." Tribute to follow.

Hatton assurance
RICKY HATTON is urging his supporters not to
be concerned about the speculation regarding the
Manchester light-wetter being too heavy ahead of his
June 4 showdown with world champion Kostya Tszyu.
The unbeaten fighter told The Sun's Pat Sheehan
he'd started training for Tszyu a month earlier than he
would normally. He said the excess weight when out of
the gym was nothing new.
