Schwer moves up
BIUY SCHWER, baci( from a break in Florida, has
decided to continue his career as a light-welter
following his defeat by Colin Dunne last month.
Schwer has boxed his entire career, amateur
and pro, as a lightweight - at which weight he has
held British, Commonwealth and European belts.
Sanders lands treble
ABA champions HENRY CASTLE (featherweight), a
puncher, and southpaw FRANCIS DOCHERTY
(welter) have turned pro with Peterborough
manager and trainer Kevin Sanders.
The pair will be promoted by Panix Promotions
and likely make their debuts in January. Sanders
has also signed QUIE DOCHERTY, Francis' younger
brother, reportedly undefeated as an amateur.
Billy showed good form In the gym, weighing
around the 10st 3lbs mark and believes he can be
a force at the heavier poundage.
Azumah steals show
BIGGEST cheer of the night in Belfast was
reserved for AZUMAH NELSON, the Ghanaian
feather and super-featherweight great. Nelson,
dressed in national tribal costume, climbed into
the ring after his fighter, Eric Odumasi, was
beaten by Scott Harrison and the knowledgeable
crowd, unprompted, broke into applause.
