HERBIE HIDE and RICHIE
WOODHALL will make
mandatory defences at the end
of August or the start of September.
Promoter Frank Wjirren is
finalising arrangements with Sky
TV for August 29 or September 5.
Terms have been agreed for
Hide's WBO heavyweight tiUe
match against German WILU FISCHER
to take place in Norwich,
while Woodhall will defend his
WBC super-middleweight crown
against VINCENZO NARDIELLO
in Telford, where he won the
crown from Sugarboy Malinga in
March.

DWAIN "TIGER" WILUAMS, a 19-year-old from Las Vegas,
showed good speed and class in the chief support to Rodney
Jones, flooring crafty Mexican veteran JULIAN SAMAHA twice before
his opponent sat it out at 1-38 of the fourth.
Williams, 12-2 (10), nearly made the US Olympic team in 1996, but
after being knocked out by Floyd Weaver, probably doesn't have the
chin for the big time.
He appeared nervous early on, but once he settled down Samaha
had trouble getting close. The 34-year-old Mexican nailed his rival
with a good, long right halfway into the first, but Williams (11st 2
l/21bs), so nimble on his feet, decked Samaha with a hard left hook to
the temple in the third. The muscular, 11st 7Ibs Mexican got up, but
Williams kept catching him with fast, two-handed flurries.
Then, when Samaha tried to jab his way in, Williams bade him
adios with a short left hook to the chin.

BRITISH fans will be familiar
with Ronald 'Winky' Wright
(pictured right), the WBO lightmiddleweight
champion who has
defeated Ensley Bingham, Steve
Foster and Adrian Dodson in title
defences here, plus No. I challenger
Harry Simon, the hard-hitting
Namibian.
The pair meet over 12 rounds at
the Carousel in Hammanskraal,
South Africa on August 22 - a joint
promotion between Rodney Berman
auid Frank Warren - with British and
European super-middleweight
champion Dean Francis boxing on
the undercard. Ricky Hatton, the
undefeated light-welterweight, will
also be on the show.
