MANCHESTER trainer Billy Graham flies out to Zambia on December
11 for PAUL BURKE'S Commonwealth light-welterweight title defence
against FELIX BWALYA on December 13, returns on the 16th and has
ENSLEY BINGHAM challenging for the vacant British light-middleweight
title at the London Arena on December 19.
He says Burke has had a new lease of life since toppling Bernard Paul.
"We are going there with the intention of knocking Bwalya out," he said.
"We know we probably won't get the decision. I'm not even sure where it
is taking place, but I have had so meuiy injections I'm beginning to feel like
a pin cushion."
THE Board of Control have
told MichaefGale to decide
by the end of December whether
he will challenge for his old Central
Area light-heavyweight title
against new champ Nick Manners
or move up to cruiserweight.
Manners' brother and promoter,
Rick, is anxious to keep the
momentum going after Nick won
the vacant title against Stinger
Mason. "I Just want clarification,"
he said.
But Manners is short of
options. If Gale moves up, Nick
may decide to fight P. R. Mason,
who recently defeated Gale, but
lost his subsequent outing.

Nevertiieless, it was a vaiuabie

over undefeated John Wilson
and former British title contender
Willie Quinn.
But they cancelled each other
out. It was close, and 1 agreed
with referee Davies' decision that
Owoh's cleaner and more eyecatching
work had earned him
the nod.
Yet after starting sharply, Owoh
tired dramatically around the

It was a fast, lively battle, with Jenkinson
forced back in the second by a long left and a
good right to the jaw. Jenkinson swarmed
back to catch his opponent with a good head
shot in the third and, again in the fourth, Gary
scored in a close-quarter struggle. It developed
into an excellent fight, with both men
brave and positive.
