CHRIS OKOH kept up his impressive run by dismissing previously-unbeaten
Darren Westover in two rounds at the Crook Log Leisure Centre. Victory
brought Okoh the vacant WBO Inter-Continental cruiserweight title, to add
to the Commonwealth belt he already holds (the match was originally
mooted as a Commonwealth defence, but the Commonwealth Boxing Council
refused to sanction it).

HEADING the undercjird on tomorrow's show,
which is expected to start at around 5.30pm, is
Puerto Rican featherweight DANIEL AUCEA, the
mandatory challenger for Naseem Hamed's WBO
featherweight tlUe, who meets LUIS SOSA.

Featherweight DEAN PITHIE gets a rematch
with KELTON McKENZIE, who was awarded a
controversial draw in Derby last November. Pithie
should make sure this time.

DEAN FRANCIS, now boxing as a light-heavyweight,
should have no difficulty with
American MIKE BONISLAWSKI, and heavyweight
banger DANNY WILUAMS is expected to notch up
his third win. He meets Doncaster's SLICK MILLER.

GIOVANNI ANDRADE was an abandoned child, left to fend for
himself on the vicious streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil, where 'Death
Squads' routinely murder hapless urchins because there are so
many of them. Boxing was Andrade's way out. As top contender
for JOHNNY TAPIA'S WBO super-flyweight title, you would have
thought he would have fought desperately to become champion.

SUNDERLAND f a v o u r i te
Billy Hardy makes the
first defence of his European
featherweight title
against Crawley's Michael Alldis
at the Crowtree Leisure Centre
on Wednesday knowing a third
'world' title shot could be just
around the corner.

New British and Commonwealth light-welterweight
champion Paul "Scrap Iron" Ryan defends his other
title in what is the official main event at the London
Arena when he takes on Italian Antonio Strabello for the
WHO Inter-Continental crown, writes CLAUDE ABRAMS.
