UNBEATEN teenager MARK
SMALLWOOD stretched his winning
pro start to 11 with a comprehensive,
o n e - s i d e d points win over
Birmingham survivor PAUL MURRAY
(128t l i b ) at the Wolverhampton
Sporting Club show at the Park Hall
Hotel.

IT'S Take Two for Irishman Steve Collins, whose first WBO middleweight
title defence against American Lonnie Beasley was called off with only
hours to spare on the infamous Hong Kong bill in October, but the two
fighters get the go-ahead at the Boston Garden on Wednesday (December
14) in the first of the four aborted fights to be rescheduled.
Win or lose, Collins is unlikely to remain at middleweight for long, the
size and strength which helped topple Chris Pyatt in May now proving
difficult to retain at l i s t 61bs, which makes a move to super-middleweight
imminent.

RIDDICK BOWE outrageously sucker-punched
Larry Donald at a pre-fight press conference,
but found it much more difficult once the bell
rcmg, though the former heavyweight champion
copped a unanimous 12-round decision at the
Caesars Palace Sports Pavillion. Art Lurie
scored it 118-109, Bill Graham 118-110 and Dalby
Shirley 120-108.

THE Spennymoor Boxing Academy dinner show in the
Capricorn Ballroom on November 11 was a huge success,
with the sell-out show featuring 11 top class contests.
Best Spennymoor boxer was light-heavyweight MICKY
THOMPSON, who boxed Young England international
and former European Juniors rep. MARK SMITH of
Hartlepool.
