SPENCER SPANKED!
But Scriggins
win is soured
by Royal blow
ON a worrying night which ended with undercard boxer Trevor
Royal stretchered from the hall after being badly knocked out
by Robbie Sivyer, Leicester's former Australian Olympic rep
Stefan Scriggins ended the unbeaten run of Spencer McCracken at
the Grand Hotel.
Question mark
over Busby as
Quinn triumphs
TRANENT'S Willie "The Mighty" Quinn won the Continental middleweight title when
Worcester's Paul Busby was forced to retire on his stool after eight topsy-turvy rounds
at the Brunton Hall.
DREAMERS dubbed it the biggest card In New England history.
There were four "world" championship fights, but Mexico's
unbeaten Marco Antonio B a r r e r a stole the show with a brutal
second round annihilation of Frank "The Shark" Toledo to retain
his WBO super-bantamweight crown. The time was one minute 55
seconds.
NOTTINGHAM'S unpredictable super-featherweight
Wayne Rigby proved too strong and capable for
Stirling's game battler Hugh Collins, stopping the
bustling Scot in two minutes six seconds of the fourth round
on the St. Andrews Sporting Club's leist show of the season.
This may have been Collins 13th fight, with 11 wins to his
credit, but there was nothing superstitious or lucky about
Rigby's efficient job.
