RICHIE WOODHALL risks his position as
olflclal challenger for the WBC middleweight
title when he defends his
European crown against Zdrakvo Kostic
of Slovenia in front of his local fans at
Telford Ice Rink on Wednesday (October 25).
Richie won his WBC No. I status when he
stopped Italy's Silvio Branco at this venue last
February in an official Final Eliminator which
was also for the vacant European title.

FRANK Maloney's eight-fight undercard
contains several fights of real
interest. lUCKY BEARD defends his
Southern Area flyweight title against
Sudbury's MARK REYNOLDS, while it is
the turn of local super-middle DAVID
STARIE to test his progress against the
fading HUNTER CLAY over eight rounds.

Heavyweights GRAHAM ARNOLD
and KEITH FLETCHER meet in a 10-
round eliminator for Julius Francis's
Southern Area title - and in a quirky
pairing, TEYMURAZ KIRKELIDZE of
Russia boxes NIK TAUMAFAI from
Australia in a Pan-Asian middleweight
title clash over 12 rounds.

STEVE McLEVY has been "BANNED"
from participating in his favourite
sport and instructed to "GET BACK
TO SCHOOL".
The 23-year-old light-welter, who
faces stocky Cumbernauld challenger
Alan Peacock on Monday (October
23) for the vacant Scottish
championship, has been given a boot
up the backside and told to get his
act together.
Veteran manager Bert Watt, infuriated
by a recent spate of out-of-thering
injuries, has blasted McLevy with
a severe "call it a day", referring to
the Scot's football activities.
"Steve loves boxing but is football
crazy. In recent weeks he has shown
up for trsuning with gravel rash bruises
to his chin and knees Jind I've told
him it's just not on.
