COMMONWEALTH super-bantamweight champion
Neil Swain made a brief but businesslike appearance
before his local fans at the Rhondda Leisure
Centre, dismissing outgunned MIdlander Graham
McGrath inside a round of their scheduled eight-threes.
Swain, officially announced at a title-protecting 8st
12lbs, but probably rather lighter, was simply too much for
the experienced but limited McGrath (8st 12 l/21bs).
SHEFFIELD'S Paul "SUky" Jones makes a quick defence of his
WBO Intercontinental light-middleweight title, only weeks after
retaining it in Belfetst against Danny Juma, when he takes on
South African Eric ^>alding at the Grosvenor House on Monday
(October 2).
The second reunion of the 1954-56

Bristol and Bob Vodden reports:
"The nostalgia oozed and we all had a
great time.
"There will be several familiar ncimes among
the guests, such as Stan Bloxham, Colin Woodhouse,
Johnny Chapman, Malcolm Collins
and Johnny Kidd, and others included Mel
Wilkins, John Vanner, Dave Brightman, John
Freeth, Chas McGregor, Jackie Baker, Jack
Flint, Ken Cook, Tex and Tony Woodward,
Chas Nunn, Roy Addison, Dai Marchant,
myself and Les Newman, who you managed
to trace through your column.
CHARLIE MAGRI of Stepney was tny first boxing fiero.
Watching tiim work ttie corner of Dean Pitfiie took my
mind racing back to school days when homework was
forsaken in favour of listening to Radio 2's commentaries
of the chirpy cockney's meteoric rise in the late '70s.
But with 19 of his 30 victories ending before round four,
my studies were rarely interrupted for long.
