AFTER six months out of the ring Liverpool heavyweight
Noel Quarless (15st lOlbs) looked in need of the outing as
he outscored Halifax's Theo Josephs (13st lib) over eight
rounds in the top spot at a new venue, the Everton Park
Sports Centre.

TONY WILLIS boxed proficiently, if unspectacularly,
to outpoint Lee McKenzie in a 10 threes all-southpaw
British light-welterweight eliminator at the Civic Hall.
Willis began well. He moved forward positively,
jabbing crisply and jarring McKenzie, Croydon, with
right hooks. Towards the end of the round McKenzie
counterpunched as if to signal the pattern of the rest of
the fight.

REPTON ABC, the powerful East London club, are fast
becoming an international outfit.
Last month, they took a team to Sweden. Now has come a
unique invitation to take a team to Houston, for six days.
Said chief coach Tony Burns: "Apparently, the Americans
are due to box Russian and Cuban teams and they have asked
us to take a team over for sparring. Who would turn down such
an invitation"?
