EDWIN ROSARIO landed a big
left hook in the dying seconds to
floor challenger Howard Davis
and retain his World Boxing
Council lightweight title on a
close, split 12-rounds decision at
the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.
That one blow from Puerto Rican
Rosario — the last punch of the fight
— made all the difference in the
scoring.

AMERICAN DUJUAN JOHNSON

light-welterweight champion
BRIAN JANSSEN (lOst

judges rated as one of the
greatest fights ever seen in Brisbane

EUSEBIO PEDROZA, Panama's WBA featherweight
champion, came off the floor to stop
New Jersey veteran Gerald Hayes in the 10th and
final round of their non-title bout.
Referee Carlos Berrocal of Panama called a
halt after 2 minutes 19 seconds of the last round
as Pedroza banged away with both hands. But
Hayes hadn't been off his feet and protested that
he should have been allowed to continue.
It was an exciting bout with Pedroza given
plenty of trouble by a determined and willing
rival.

SCHWER and Storey have
not been around long in
boxing, but already this
young pair are beginnig to
make their mark.
At Luton Irish ABC they are
highly thought of even though
they have been boxing competitively
for a short period —
Billy Schwer not quite four
years, and Francis Storey just
over three years.
