JIMMY PRICE'S unbeaten record and
promising career lay in ruins after just one
min 30 sees of his scheduled 10-rounder
against former world light-middleweight
champion Ayub Kalule in the joint main
event at Alexandra Pavilion, writes TIM
MO.
BRITAIN'S champion brothers,
l i g h t w e i g h t GEORGE and
bantamweight JOHN FEENEY,
both came through their non-title
10-rounders at the Civic Hall with
varying degrees of ease.
Referee Paul Thomas gave George a
98'/2-97'/j points win over Worcester's
MICKEY BAKER in an exhilarating
contest, while John had an easier time
against Midlands Area featherweight
champ STEVE TOPLISS but actually
won by an even narrower margin —
98-97 Vi.

Alex Romeo
(12st 41bs) had to pull out
all the stops to take a slim
decision over Blaine Longsden,
W a r r i n g t o n ( l i st

Liver Sporting Club show
at the Holiday Inn.
OUTSTANDING on the 12-bout Scottish National bill at
Paisley Town Hall was the lightweight battle between
Gerry Conway f r om the local Ferguslie ABC and Kelvin's
Kenny McKinley.
Kenny was making a comeback after three years and
was strongly fancied to beat Gerry, formerly with Kelvin
and then Babcock Power.
He stormed out at the opening bell as though expecting
t o bowl Gerry over, but was met with stiff jabs and a crisp
right cross that staggered him.
