SOUTHERN AREA light-heavyweight champion Jimmy Peters was
given a real argument by American Ed Dino Stewart in the main event
before winning in one minute 15 seconds of the sixth of a scheduled
ten threes at the Applemore Recreation Centre.
J IM LLOYD (left) outpointed Bob Keddie in the 1960 amateur
international between England and Scotland, reversing a decision
the pevlous year in the same event. Recently Jim went to
Scotland to visit Bob, and chat about old times.
THE National Junior Boxing Championships
concluded at the National Stadium Dublin, with
the computer scoring system in operation at
these tests. As I predicted, young Kilcullen
boxer TOMMY LAWLER duly carried off the
lightweight title when the referee stopped his
contest with S. KEELER (St Matthews, Dublin) in
the last round. Lawler is a prospect for the
future.
