EVERY year has its selection of shocks and when the list is
compiled for 1978 the defeat of Bruce Curry by Domingo
Ayala should qualify for a high listing. Bruce had won 16
out of 18 bouts, beating Monroe Brooks, Lion Furuyama,
Juan Merlo and Julio Gomez, and had come within a few
seconds of knocking out Wilfredo Benitez.

FORMER featherweight champion Bobby "Chacon
 made a smashing East Coast debut, scoring an
 awesome seventh-round technical knockout over
local favourite Augie Pantellas at the Spectrum.
Chacon dazzled Pantellas and the appreciative
Philly audience with a scintillating display of two-
 handed punching that left the "Golden Greek" a
bewildered wreck.

LLOYD MORGAN, Tottenham's England welterweight,
