IN September 1969, Boxing News celebrated its 60th
year of publication. This led to invitations to me for
appearances on television (BBC Grandstand) and
several on radio, including one on the BBC World
Service.

THE names Neville Meade and Denton Ruddock
probably don't mean much to the public in general,
but the fight trade recognises the two sturdy
Jamaican immigrants as tough heavyweights to be
respected.

SEAN O'GRADY is the High School kid from
Oklahoma City who has packed more fights into 18
months as a pro than many fighters manage in a
career.

SINCE the Lonsdale Belts were first put into circulation there have been 21
flyweight Champions and Scotland has supplied nine of them — Taney Lee, Elky
Clark, Johnny Hill, Benny Lynch, Jackie Paterson, Frankie Jones, Jackie Brown,
Walter McGowan and John McCluskey.
