KEVIN FINNEGAN'S illness, which has forced him to pull out of his scheduled
British middleweight decider with Alan Minter on Harry Levene's bumper bill at
Wembley on September 30, means that the light-welterweight title clash between
champion Joey Singleton and Alan Salter has at last found a home.

EUROPEAN welter champion John H. Stracey will meet
Keith "Voodoo" Averette of Akron, Ohio, in an international
10-rounder at Wembley on September 30. The fight will
be on the undercard of Harry Levene's triple British title bill.

National coach Kevin Hickey was pleased with the way the
advanced coaches seminar went at Lee Green, Derbyshire, over the
weekend. Eighteen coaches attended the course during which
athletics coach Wilf Paish gave two interesting lectures.
Incidentally, London regional coaches John Banham, Colin
Smith and Mickey Kingwell broke off from the final day of the
course to take the London squad training at Cannon Row police
station.
