BRITISH and Commonwealth cruiserweight champion
Glenn McCrory retained his titles and put a second notch
on the Lonsdale Belt when Streatham challenger Lou Gent
was forced to retire after eight rounds of a tremendous
battle at the Leisure Centre.

LIGHT-WELTERWEIGHT prospect Errol McDonald
stretched his unbeaten run when he outpointed substitute
Nick Meloscia of Gloucester in the eight round main event
on the Mickey Duff/Terry Lawless promotion at York Hall.
It was the 13th win in 14 fights (one draw) for the former ABA
welterweight champion McDonald, but not one of his best
performances.

GLASGOW southpaw Gary Jacobs was
too sharp and awkward for a rather
disappointing Commonwealth welterweight
champion Wilf Gentzen at the
smaller of the two Kelvin Hall arenas,
taking the Australian's title on a clear
12-rounds decision.

FINCIILEY'S Steve Griffith scored the second win of his
comeback but looked far from impressive in outpointing
Swindon's Nicky Lucas in the six threes main event of
Barry Hearn's promotion at York Hall. Although he won
every round on referee Ritchie Davies scorecard, Griffith
never came close to flooring his opponent, who despite
seven defeats in his previous eight fights provided
good opposition and a decent workout.

PETERBOROUGH'S GARY DeROUX has
his third fight under new manager Billy Aird
when he tops the charity show at the Royal
Lancaster Hotel on Thursday (May 5) against
African PATRICK KAMY.
