A REAL grudge fight looks in order on Tuesday (May 10)
when British light-heavyweight champion Tony Wilson
makes his first defence against Liverpool's Brian Schumacher
at the Tottenham Baths.
Frank Warren promotes at the venue for the first time. Both
boxers fight under the Warren promotional banner, Schumacher
being managed by Warren, Wilson by Jimmy Tibbs.

CROYDON southpaw Clinton McKenzie gave another
quality old-pro performance to outscore the previously
unbeaten Ensley Bingham of Manchester in an entertaining
eight-rounder on Frank Warren's York Hall show,
and record the second win of his comeback.

FORMER heavyweight "IRISH" TOM McNEELEY, looking
fit and well, helped with the TV commentary on the Steve
Collins-Sam Storey show from Boston Garden. He's put on
weight, no longer has the spiky crew-cut and his hair is
greying, but the rugged features were unmistakable. I saw
him lose to Brian London at Olympia years ago. He was
credited with flooring Floyd Patterson. Still looks as if he can
take good care of himself.

GREG HAUGEN, who verged on the brilliant when
outboxing Vinny Pazienza to win the IBF lightweight title
in February, was apparently very ordinary indeed when
hanging on to the championship with that confusing, technical
decision win over Miguel Santana before his home
crowd at Tacoma, Washington.

SOUTH AFRICA'S Brian Mitchell
made the fifth successful defence of his
WBA super-featherweight title when
he outpointed old foe Jose Rivera of
Puerto Rico in front of several hundred
spectators at the Scala Melia cabaret.

BRITISH heavyweight champion HORACE
NOTICE has been named official contender
for FRANCESCO DAMIANI'S European
crown.
