LOCAL star Rocky Kelly (lOst 1 libs) found a perfect right
hook to flatten Wolverhampton's Bert Myrie (list) after
1:15 of the fourth of their scheduled eight threes main event
at the Assembley Halls, writes HARRY MULL AN.
IN HIS first fight since losing his British lightweight title to
George Feeney last October, Balham's Ray Cattouse
stopped Airdrie's Willie Booth, the Scottish champion, in
the seventh of a scheduled threes main event at the Elephant
& Castle Leisure Centre.
EUSEBIO PEDROZA of Panama retained his WBA
featherweight title for the 16th time as he scored a close but
unanimous 15-round points victory over Rocky Lockridge
of New Jersey in a rematch.
Pedroza had won a disputed, split verdict over Lockridge
at Atlantic City in October, 1980.
JUAN DIAZ has been waiting for a world title shot ever
since he stopped Charlie Magri over here. With clever
management and good connections little Juan might have
made it. Even a loss to Eleoncio Mercedes last year could
have been overcome, but now he has really blown it.
TOTTENHAM'S Joey Morgan and Repton's national
schools champion Roy Rowland brought off fine doubles in
the Watneys London ABA Junior Championships at Porchester
Hall, Bayswater, on April 21.
Morgan, who last year won the Class "A" title at 54 kilos,
won the Class "B" 57 kilos title by knocking out Repton's
fancied John Weston in the second round.
