Barry proves he's ready
to start hunting world title
BRILLIANT Barry McGuigan took a big step towards world-class when he halted former
European bantamweight champion Valerio Nati in the sixth round at King's Hall to take
the vacant EBU featherweight crown. The bout was scheduled for 12 rounds.
A capacity crowd of nearly 10,000 went delirious as McGuigan broke Nati up in the sixth
with ferocious left hooks to the body.
EUROPEAN middleweight champion Louis Acaries,
an interested ringside spectator at Wembley, would
be well advised not to place too much reliance on the
indifferent form displayed by his February title challenger
